Powerpaw
Alaskan Malamutes is a
small kennel located in
All of our dogs used for breeding have their CHD, CERF, OFA, and Penn Hip clearances. Our dogs are show dogs, but only a small portion of their life is spent in the show ring. First and foremost they demand to be a part of our family!
Some History...
My first
malamute, Powell’s Tazmalamute Devil, was a Christmas gift. He was the inspiration behind my kennel name. Anytime he wanted my attention, he would take his paw and give me a good
whack. Somehow all my dogs seem to
pick up this trait. Unfortunately,
"Taz" came from a puppy
mill. By the time we were ready for a second Mal we knew better, and we looked for a
reputable breeder. We originally
planned on getting another pet puppy, but came home instead with CH. Wolf Mnts Shining
Star of Jade. "Star"
was PowerPaw’s first show dog. She
was handled to her championship by her breeder/co-owner Pat Jenkins. Just going to the dog shows and watching Pat and "Star" work
together had me hooked. I put my
name on the list for a show puppy from Barrenfield Alaskan Malamutes in
As anyone who owns an Alaskan Malamute can tell you, once you start there is no end in sight...a little while later, I received Rocky-Wak Heartbreak ‘O’ Powerpaw, "Neeko", as a Mother's Day gift. Then came Barrenfield Enemy of the States, aka "Charlie". When "K.O." sired his first litter, WolfMnt’s Sweet as Sugar, "Sugar", just had to come home with me. PowerPaw’s newest addition is PowerPaw Aluk She Bee Stingin’. "Saydee" is our first seal and white bitch.
It's important to remember that a Malamute is not for every family or household. Before you make the decision to purchase an Alaskan Malamute, please research them extensively. Visit our Links section for places to learn about the breed, and try to visit multiple breeders in your area before making a decision.
If you are able and willing, please consider a rescue dog first. All dogs in the Alaskan Malamute Rescue Foundation (AMRF) program are given full health checks and temperament tests before they are placed. Volunteers in AMRF do careful screenings of the families to make sure the placement of a rescue dog in your home would be a good match. Please contact us or visit the Alaskan Malamute Club of American’s website for more information.
We hope that you enjoy our site. Please come back and visit us often!
