Ch. Wolf Mtns Shining Star of Jade was our first show dog. When we went to pick up our second Malamute puppy (after Taz), we were expecting to take the one pet puppy that was left. We ended up going home with Star, the show puppy that Pat Jenkins was thinking of keeping for herself.

Pat showed Star to her championship, and they were a great team. At Star’s first show we were very nervous -- we'd done nothing to train her! But our little girl behaved perfectly and won her class. She finished her championship in under a year and has now retired to the official Alpha position in our pack.

After we had her about a year and learned her personality, Star's nickname became “The Hussy”.  She now answers better to that name than she does to Star! Once, when I was picking up my 3-year old cousin from day care, I got to hear how she'd told them all about “The Hussy”!

Star was meant to be the foundation bitch of our kennel, but due to health issues she was spayed and never produced a litter. In our hearts, she is the foundation of PowerPaw and will be the alpha bitch long after she leaves us.
